Classic Hexagon Pavers Design & Installation

The design of this paver is unique. In order to match the original pavers, we had to calculate a mix design that did not include rock/aggregate.

Modern paver manufacturers use a large amount of stone aggregate in their mix designs. This enables them to reduce the cement content in their pavers without reducing strength. Ybor City required an extremely smooth surface to match the classic look of the existing Antique Hexagon Pavers. This was accomplished by combining White diamond sand from 2 different mines located over 200 miles apart Coupled with quality Portland and good mix design suggestions from The American Cement Company.

The pictures below depict an entire city block retro-fitted with our new Hexagon Pavers. Commercial installation requires an overall 8" of excavation. Once dug out, 6" of Limerock Screening is placed and compacted to a 97% compaction density. This allows for the 2" paver to reach grade.

Sealing is always recommended approximately 45 days after installation. This wait time ensures the pavers will be cured adequately enough to be sealed. Carroll's offers Waterban 90 manufactured by Lambert for a more natural look. This sealer is a siloxane penetrating water repellent that offers maximum protection for cementitious, above-grade surfaces.
